The Burundian President Pierre Nkurunziza has sacked three cabinet Ministers including the Minister of Defence and External Relations. He has replaced his defence and foreign ministers, presidential spokesperson Gervais Abayeho has said.
Sacked Defence Minister General Pontien Gaciyubwenge had previously called for the Burundian army to remain neutral amid the ongoing unrest over the president's bid for a third term.
No reason has yet been given for the dismissals.
