The Enugu state Police command has arrested two northerners who allegedly murdered Rev Father Paul Offu along Agbudu/Ihe road in Awgu LGA of Enugu state.
The same gang kidnapped the traditional ruler of Agbogwu and his wife. Enugu State Command of the Nigerian Police paraded them yesterday.
The suspects are Ibrahim Adamu, 25 years old from Taraba State and Idris Tobe 28 years and three others who are still on the run. Speaking to journalist, Ibrahim Adamu confessed to the killing of the Rev Father Paul Offu. He said, he came to Enugu to learn the skill of cow rearing but later joined the kidnapping gang.
A source told AIF Media that the suspects got about 300,000 naira each from the ransom paid before the traditional rural and his wife were released. It was the ransom that led to their arrest.
Gov Ugwuanyi has declared a total clampdown on all criminals in the state and it is already yielding results.
